Introduction

Livre des fais d’Alexandre le grant or The Book of Deeds of Alexander the Great translated by Vasco da Lucena.  Based off the work of the first-century Roman writer Quintus Curtius Rufus, History of Alexander the Great.  da Lucena's work was translated into French for Charles the Bold, duke of Burgundy.  It was to teach him how to be a great ruler by telling of Alexander the Great's triumphs and failures.  This particular work was part of an effort during the medieval time period, to tell amazing stories through the little pictures found in illuminated manuscripts.
